Charlottesville, Va., November 2006 — CFA Institute today announced that the Universidad del CEMA is a CFA Program Partner and will offer a degree program that covers at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge, the CFA Institute ethical and professional standards, and other requirements.

“Students in this program are exposed to the Candidate Body of Knowledge, concepts and principles that have been identified by investment experts worldwide as essential to global practice,” said Bob Johnson, CFA, managing director of the CFA and CIPM Programs Division. “By mastering these fundamentals of the CFA Program, students will be well on their way to earning the highly-valued CFA charter.”

The Master in Finance at the Universidad del CEMA is offered since 1991, being the first program of this type in Argentina. It has built over all these years a network of over 1,200 graduates, many of whom occupy leadership positions in the industry. The breadth and depth of the program assures that it is relevant for CFA candidates and charterholders alike.

The partnership initiative was launched 4 April 2006 with the announcement of Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford as the inaugural CFA Program Partner.

Since then, CFA Program Partner institutions have been recognized on six continents: American University of Sharjah (Sharjah, UAE), Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), Boston University (Boston, Mass., USA), University of Cincinnati (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA), Concordia University (Montreal, Quebec, Canada), University of Exeter (Exeter, U.K.), Hautes Etudies Commerciales (HEC) (Paris, France), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong), London Business School (London, U.K.), Macquarie University (Sydney, Australia), Marquette University (Milwaukee, Wis., USA), University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, N.C., USA), University of Pretoria (Pretoria, South Africa), ICMA Centre, University of Reading (Reading, U.K.), University of Richmond (Richmond, Va., USA), Universidad de San Andres (Buenos Aires, Argentina), University of San Francisco (San Francisco, Calif., USA), Universite de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada), and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Madison, Wis., USA).

Recognition as a CFA Program Partner signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that the university curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the three levels of CFA examinations.

The CFA Program sets a standard for developing the skills, standards, competence, and integrity of financial analysts, portfolio managers, investment advisers, and other investment professionals worldwide. It is widely considered the investment profession’s most rigorous credentialing program. Administered in English, the CFA curriculum and examinations are identical worldwide. Fewer than one in five candidates who begin the program successfully complete it and go on to earn the coveted CFA charter, the “gold standard” for investment professionals.

"It is an honor to announce that the Universidad del CEMA has been identified as a CFA Program Partner," said Fernando Berge, CFA, corporate finance officer at Petrobras Energia and president of the CFA Society of Argentina & Uruguay. "Our society and CFA Institute are eager to work with the school to develop further opportunities for graduates as they enter the business world."

“It is an honor to be recognized as a CFA Program Partner institution. We have a long time relationship with the local society, and this partnership formalizes a liaison that was built through many joint activities,”said Edgardo Zablotsky, director of the Finance Department at UCEMA. “Partnering with CFA Institute is further evidence of the outstanding professional qualifications of our graduates, many of whom are CFA charterholders.”

The initiative offers students in the programs access to CFA Institute textbooks, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources. Students will also benefit from professional
